CPU: Athlon X4 740
GPU: R7 240 2GB
MOBO: Biostar A55ML2
PSU: Some 500W Unit.
RAM: 4GB 1600MHz, Don't know specific name.
I'll also look into upgrading the RAM, The total budget is 300 Euros.

Solution
I wouldn't bother upgrading the graphics card or processor until you see what upgrading your RAM first does for your system. I'd probably look at a 2x8GB DDR3-1600 RAM kit at around 60-70 Euro for your system. Upgrade that first. Then check your performance to see if you need to upgrade anything else.

I would note that you cannot move a CPU/RAM upgrade forward to a new system. Any money you spend on this system is lost on this system.

There's no real "best CPU" for this GPU. The question is if you have a sufficient CPU and given that it's a very basic, entry-level GPU released eight years ago, your budget CPU from the time is perfectly adequate to use whatever potential it has.

The wider question is: what is your goal here? What is the problem you're trying to solve? It needs to be something kind of targeted because if you need a significant upgrade overall, you're basically talking about an entirely new PC. There was a time that when incremental upgrades still made sense, but we're talking about starting to do that in 2014 or 2015, not the end of 2021.

The goal is just so that I can run some esport games (CS:GO, Valorant, R6S if possible), plus GTA 5 and Garry's Mod.

I can check what PSU I have, but you mentioned that my CPU isn't holding back the GPU? Then, what would be an good GPU for that CPU?

They're well-matched to each other. An entry-level GPU from 2013 with a budget CPU from 2012. You can probably get away with a GTX 1050 in there. But you'd need need a serious PSU upgrade as your current one is a fake 500W, a cheaply made unit with <200W of +12V power that shouldn't be trusted at all.

Dang, I didn't know, but thanks for the help on the GPU issue, do the GTX 1050's need external power btw?

No, but the PSU is such poor quality that I wouldn't add on any GPU that requires supplementary power.

Most 1050 Tis also don't need supplementary power, but a handful of overclocked 1050 Tis do.
Thanks, also, I need to change the RAM right? And there won't be a bottleneck between the X4 740 and the 1050?
