Just inquiring about the best mid range cpu‘s as I want to upgrade my pc
I was thinking about a 3700x but to be honest thats a bit overkill for me because im not into all that 4K ultra 120 FPS bs.
what Would be the best cpu with most performance for money and has future proofing so it would Only have to swap out gpu after a year or two and then it would be a decent gaming machine still.

Solution
The 3700X has been on sale for a low of ~$269 recently, and, even if the two extra cores/four extra threads are not exactly truly 'needed now' for gaming, they sure might be in two years time, for newer games. (If you wait three weeks, gaming comparisons of the forthcoming 5700X, 5800X, and 5900X should be quite interesting if the rumors of 15-20% performance jumps are anywhere close to accurate... (On the Intel side, the 10600K and 10700K are both quite popular, and with the latter typically outperforming all current Ryzen entries in current games.)

Be sure to get enough GPU... the current RX5600XT , GTX1660 Super, and certainly the forthcoming RTX3060 should do nicely for 1080P gaming. (My GTX1060-6 GB served for 3+ years...

i7 10700k or whatever is one tier below that, maybe i5 10600k. Intel is still fps king in gaming by a small margin. It will hold up well now if you get a 1660ti and in a year or 2 when you drop $700 on some future behemoth GPU.
