Whats better, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or MSI Radeon R9 380

I buying a pc parts soon and I can't tell which is better NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB, or MSI Radeon R9 380 4GB. I've been told they are similar but the r9 380 is better.
