Hoping to get some opinions/recommendations based on my current hardware setup. I've done some research, but I would like to get some feedback on my specific hardware components, and whether anything else should be upgraded.

Currently I have a Radeon HD 7770 GPU (SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card) and I'm looking to upgrade. As far as price goes, I wouldn't want to go over $500. That being said, I'd also like to take advantage of my current set up as much as I can. I'm also not a stickler for graphics (I don't need the best of the best), just want the latest games (i.e. Gears of War 4 or Doom) to run smoothly and look decent.

Here's the other pertinent hardware info (currently running Windows 7):

Motherboard ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Memory 16 GB (2x8) DDR3 (Model F3-1600C11D-16GNT)

Thanks in advance for constructive replies!

If I were you I would upgrade to an MSI geforce GTX 1060. It has 6GB of VRAM so should last you quite a well and it can runs games at 1080p 60 fps without breaking a sweat for only 290 dollars on Newegg. That card will run the games you requested and last you for years and years to come!

Do you want to run SLI? if not the 1060 will be the best bang for your buck performance gains.
I would go for the cheapest 1060 and save my money to upgrade to an i7 I used to run an AM3+ cpu and trust me the i7 will be the biggest gains you can get.
