Hello!

Not sure what is next in my build, I would assume that it would be to get a new motherboard, cpu and DDR4 RAM, but the question is what? My setup now I can run games such as Battlefield 1 on around medium at a farely decent frame rate of around 40-50, and player unknowns battlegrounds on medium with around 25-30 fps, if I switch to low its smooth. Is it ment to be like this with a setup like this? (I forgot the make of the RAM, but it is decent ram, I went into overclockers to buy new ram and PSU and they recommended these so yeeee).

16GB DDR3 RAM
Gigabyte 78-lmt usb3
Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB
AMD FX-8350
650W Super Flower PSU

Ill have a look and get back to you soon.

I'm concerned that you'll buy some DDR3, and need DDR4, if that's not your intention then you are fine.

A second hand DDR3 intel upgrade would do you a world of good and not need new memory.

But as others are saying, what else is going on here.

Clock speeds and temps, GPU and CPU at load and idle please.

I will get these figures for you once I get home.

What would you recommend to get then as a second hand intel upgrade? Is there something that I could find that would be able to run these games nicely?

I agree with you, also to add 4series i5(devils canyon) with a Z mobo would be good too.
Altho i doubt he can get em cheap, both CPU's are pretty good and ppl want alot of $$ for them.
[strike]If he can get a nice deal on Zmobo + unlocked haswell wud be fine, but i doubt it.[/strike] - duh repeatin myself.
Probably the price will make him shoot directly for the latest gen.

Im willing to spend around £200-£300, maybe a bit more.

To be honest that may be the best solution, as you continue to spare some more cash.
Saw @ ebay 4690k goin from 150-200 pounds, which is insane.

You can get a 7th gen i5 7600k for 220pounds + 270z mobo for 100 pounds.
Example: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Hhj49W
But if you go for 7th gen ull need new ram too and an aftermarket cooler, which would add $$.

So spare some money and check how ryzen is going to fare.
In reality you could go with an i5 7500, but i am not sure if that would be enough for ULTRA Battlefield on any higher res.

I would assume I would need a new motherboard to fit this, because this ryzen seems like a brilliant option, especially when its just around the corner, might even be saucy and go for the 1600.

Ryzen looks like it may be the way to go, simply because for the price, but how is it such a lower price compared to all these other processors out there. Is this going to be a powerful CPU? Is it going to be worth getting this and will it be suitable to keep for a while to run new games.

It cheaper because intel had no competition to keep their prices balanced.

Ho powerful will it be, we will understand in April :)
Probably those new series would compare to i5 7th gen.
But when they come out, we will see what the reviews would show.
Possibly Ryzen 5 1400X would be near 7600k.

Still for Ryzen, once again you would need a new Motherboard + Ram.

Ryzen 7 series are already out and is clearly already proving Itself as a strong CPU for gaming and especially editing. These are the 8 core / 16 thread SMT variants for Ryzen 7 whilst Ryzen 5 will come with 4C/8T and 6C/12T options.

Theoretically, the different between Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 should be very minimal, since games don't use more than 8 cores/threads

I don't want to have to get new RAM aswell, the plan is to get new motherboard and CPU that will be decent enough to play new games for maybe 3-6 months, until I decide to go the step further.
