been looking through other motherboards as of late as i near the buying time for my parts, i cannot seem to determine the best motherboard for me for the price at the moment. i was going to go with the msi x99A sli+ but the asrock x99 extreme4 recently caught my eye as well with its many other features. so i ask, what is the best motherboard i can get for under $220~?

I wouldn't go with the Gigabyte mentioned by Tradesman1 just because it will MAX OUT at 32GB of ram, not saying you will want more. It also lacks some of the other things, I'd the ASRock X99 Extreme4 over it.

only thing that really struck me odd about the asrock ex4 is its low price tag, must be low for some reason but couldnt really find any reason besides for maybe its lack of a 3.1 port. but damn those extra features.

never really looked into GB's motherboards, i will happily look into that one you recommended though.

The low price tag is due to it's lack of 3.1 and being a 2014 board.

Updates:
ASRock board has has 3x PCIe x16 3.0 / 1x PCIe x16 2.0 //// The MSI is 4x x16 3.0 (but you don't need 3.0)
ASRock Memory speed OCs to 3000 //// MSI OCs to 3333, but you also don't need this.\
Asrock has no SATAe I think //// MSI has one.

i'm not sure if your trolling me or just did not read the body paragraph of my first post, those are both the ones i did mention in the first place. so...i already looked at them. ill give you the benefit of the doubt, so thank you for your considerations.

32gb does leave little room for upgrade, but i doubt i will ever need 32gb+ in the next decade anyways. my options do seem to be the x99A+ and the x99 EX4 at the moment, less someone brings a better board to my attention

I am not trolling you. I simply think those are the best one for your price range. I think you picked well, I just didn't say that.

When I made my first post I didn't look at the ones you mentioned. I just kind of went looking for the best for your budget. That's that's why I said 'Check out' and is probably the cause for confusion.

okay, sorry for the confusion. was not sure if you were just simply stating back what i said or what was going on, hard to tell when i am new to this forum.

i did do my research ^-^ hard part is deciding between the two though

(they really need to update that site, so many incorrect listings within motherboards. does not even state that the x99A+ has a 3.1 slot, granted it was revised with it but the option with it is not even on the site)

bit skeptical at the 25%~ fail rate from newegg, its possible that the seller of it on newegg is the problem but its also the cheapest there (by like $60)
