What's the Decent OC speed of an i5 2400?

hi i would just like to ask if i can still push the OC farther with my i5 2400, i was able to get to 3.6ghz all four cores @ 1.3++volts, using the auto OC software of MSI, the OC Genie.

And by the way, my RAM (Geil value plus 2x2gb ddr3 1333mhz CL9 9-9-9-24 @1.5v)
was overvolted to 1.6++volts by the software/feature as well, is that ok?
and can i also OC that to 1600mhz just in case?

im using a CM V6GT for cooling, so far, i'm running 38-42c* idle, and 43-62c(once, it reached 68c on 1 core)* @ load...

thanks!

You cannot overclock any chip without the K designation. Also 1.6v will damage your motherboard so put the voltage down asap.

This is one of the reason why we say OC by the bios but since non K cpu's can't be overclocked from the bios, you can't overclock at all.

I think you can actually play with the TurboBoost multiplier a bit and/or increase the BLK (but I haven't seen anyone being able to push it far, 108Mhz at most).

Vigilante212: it does run @ 1.5v at default before i made the OC changes....
just after activating the OC Genie, it changed to 1.605v i think...

lilotimz: it's just i was able to read some reviews that it can be overclocked a little bit, but not as massive or as big as the "k" version...

Well my point will still stands to be honest...

A hundred mhz boost is not really a big boost.

Still, i wouldn't try to mess around with that since I've heard it does mess up the motherboard/cpu iirc.

@k1114: yes! that review inspired me! I read that article heartily a couple weeks ago... hahaha! the only downside with the 3.8ghz OC is it only works with 1 core only, according to the article.

So guys, as far as my ram is concerned, should i lower down the voltage back to 1.5v? or should i keep it that way, and try if i can push it to 1600mhz and check if it's stable?

All the OC genie did was remove the limiter of your memory to what its actually rated at. This article http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/corsair-vengeance-crucial-ballistix-kingston-hyperX,2907.html shows the 1155 ram can go up to 1.65v

If this was true they wouldn't give you the option to overclock it :)

+1

so everything is ok then, don't you think? should i be satisfied with that extra 500mhz gain from the cpu speed?
and regarding the added voltage for the ram? should it be ok?
