[SOLVED] Whats the difference between these Alphacool fittings?

Alphacool "Eiszapfen" vs. Alphacool "HF"
Their measurements are the same. Each chrome-plated brass.

First the 90s:
Eiszapfen 90, 7.45 euro:


HF 90, 6.45 euro:

Next the 45s:
Eiszapfen 45, 9.95 euro:

HF 45, 6.45 euro:

Any idea?

Check the specs...the more expensive fittings may be stainless steel, and the lesser-priced fittings may be a nickle plated base metal (brass, maybe?).

I would think brass is better than steel because it wouldn't galvanize with copper when the plating got rubbed off of threads.

Looking at the specs and info, they're both brass. And there appears to be very little difference in the specs also. With the HF being chromated. The eisapfen appear slightly longer. May be worth an email to ask them.

Sometimes it's a matter of Chrome thickness, impurities, quality, application etc. Not all chrome is done 100% right with the full alloted chemical baths etc. Some ppl cut corners, leave steps out, interested only in the look of the finished product, not its longetivity.

Sometimes its nothing more than brand pricing.

I emailed the question to info@alphacool.com. Their repy:

the only different between the two products is the Design. The HF Series is our older series and the Eiszapfen is the new Series. The different starts by the fittings for Hardtubes. The Eiszapfen fittings are compatible the glass tubes and the HF Series is not compatible with glass tubes.

He (Tim from alphacool) probably was referring to the 2 product lines, not the individual fittings I was asking about. I think the difference is marketing. And he didn't take the time to look up manufacturing differences like plating thickness, or the ID of the inside of the fitting.
