I'm getting tired of waiting for the R9 390X, especially if it's going to be released after June, when AMD announces the 300 series. I'm new at PC gaming so. I was going to wait for it to play 4K but I guess I'll just go 1440p with a Titan X until Pascal is released.

Solution
nobody knows debends on how good the R9 390X does and if nvidia comes out with a GTX985 (cant be 980TI as the 980 is the full unlocked core GM2XX i dont know the exact code names for the nvidia 980/970 GPUS)

the GM Core in titan X could be used in a cheaper version called GTX985 R9 390X will be announced on june

I guess I'll have to look at the used Titan 1 resale value to get an idea. Some say it will be called the 990. Look like the Titan is going for 500+. I don't know why'd they buy a used GPU like this when you can get a new one at the same price and faster?

Your burning money on a Titan. It's not a card aimed at gamers.
You would spend less and get better performance with SLI 970's or if your rich which clearly you are if your considering a Titan get dual 980's which is fairly ridiculous as well but will give much better performance than a single Titan.
TBH though you could get away with a single 980 and still play at 1440 no problems.
970's = bang for buck
980 = single card solution
980's for too much money and don't care just want best performance
Titan = Don't care so much about the performance I just want people to know how much money I have when I tell everyone within ear shot I have a Titan.
Titans = You should of just SLI 970's and bought your best friend a new 970 as well to show how much you appreciate his friendship
No Friends = get out of my house.
Oh and Titans do not hold value very well since they don't offer good performance for the $, and in the second hand market no one cares about boasting about owning an old ass Titan. They want bang for buck.

hahahah I just saw this and I laughed out loud. Just thought Id say that was awesome.. lol :)

also one of the main reason a titan wouldn't hold as a gaming solution specially when a card that might release at half the price will easily beat it

i would rather Xfire a R9 390X when they are out instead of buying a titan Xfire and with the money saved i would buy a 3rd 390X for my friend

I stopped reading for awhile after he said, "It's not a card aimed at gamers." The guy also made an assumption that I was going to purchase the Titan X when I simply asked for the approximate resale value. The original Titan which is two years old has a very good resale value at Ebay at $500.00+, but it is unknown how the Titan X resale value would be after Nvidia releases Pascal.

I have no idea how I thought you were considering a Titan? Guess I just plucked it out of fat air.
Anyway feel free to not read my suggestions. You don't need to attack me for trying to help you.
What ever though. Enjoy your Titan.

There is a huge difference between You're burning money on Titan and you're burning money if you purchase a Titan. The first statement is definite and the second is conditional. Here you failed to understand that I only considered purchasing a Titan X. "I guess," is not a definite statement.

Of course, who would have predicted that the original Titan would be worth half its value after two years. Extrapolations are welcomed.

here is how i see it and i hope i see it everyone does

AMD does well with the R9 390X/390 AMD cards usually cost less for almost the same or more performance which is a good thing Now all we need is them fixing their power consumption which i hope they do

if amd does well which is what i as a consumer want coz i need a new card after almost 4 years of owning my 7950

Nvidia needs a card to counter they come out with the GTX985 (it cant be called 980ti as the gm 200 is a different core from the GM204 in the 980 which is already fully unlocked) and i hope it isnt an expensive 7XX USD card back in the day u would pay 1k usd for a dual GPU

well AMD did OK with the Watercooled R9295X2 and the price droped to 1k later on and now more around 750~usd

the only reason nvidia can make their gpu's expensive is coz AMD sucks at performance per watt (the first gen 7950s were good tho at 145W)

oh well i still want to see AMD back in the CPU market so that we could have 8 cores mainstream CPUs lol

I bought the original Titan because of the Vram, I added a second (used) few months ago in SLI and have 0 regrets. The monitor is 1600p and they handle it with ease.
