My PC boots up normally and has no problems when I'm not playing games, but 20-30 minutes after playing games the displays on both my monitors are filled up with white vertical lines, the sound loops, the pc stays ON and everything is still connected and then the computer becomes 100% unresponsive. If i try turn it back on the pc boots, the fans run and everything but the monitors don't connect to the gpu and my peripherals don't connect either?

I have tested the temps for the CPU and GPU and they are both well below too hot for any problem. (VRAM maybe?)

I did not make and system, software or hardware changes between my PC working and not working.

SPECS:
Msi-p67a-gd65
i5 2500k @ 4.2GHz
XFX 7970 black edition
8GB ddr3 ram
256gb sdd with OS on
1TB 3.5" black drive

(I had my 7970 oced to 1125/1575 for a month or two without problems until now, the card has never overheated.)

Hello,

We're sorry you are having issues with your 7970.

Artifact to hard crash after 20 minutes with an Overclock.

Main issue is your overclock, if you set it back to default clock settings, does the issue persist?

It could be Ram, PSU or even a fualty piece of VRAM on the GPU, but knowing the card is set to unstable clocks is the elephant in the room. adjust that back and it should resolve itself.

Also, if I remove the 6 and 8 pin power connectors from my gpu when it's off after a crash the PC actually boots and gives power to the peripherals, then if I plug it back in again power will not go to them until the computer randomly starts to work again, until it crashes a further time.

Hello thanks for the reply yes I underclocked my clocks to 950/1500 and the problem stopped, I never thought this was a problem because I had a stable overclock for two months.

I have been stable for around 24 hours now. Will get rid of the underclock at leave the clocks at default and see if it crops up again.

Thanks
