What's wrong with this socket?

My friend bought a motherboard and it had a darker patch on part of the cpu socket. Just wondering what this is as I got the same motherboard and it didn't have this. It likes like it's been burnt slightly but it has only been used slightly by the person my friend bought it off.

The motherboard is an Asus m5a97 r2.0 am3+.

If I can find a way to share a picture with u I will. I'm doing this as I want to find out if it's something bad or not, cos it can potentially break the cpu it's something bad.

Thanks :)

if the computer boots up and works fine it should be okay.... I had a socket look like what you describe before and found out it got burnt a little bit during the molding process, just a plastic flaw but not one that would affect operation.

it looks like someone did some extreme overclocking that burnt the socket, but if it still works fine don't worry about it 😉
