I'm liking everything I've seen of it's gameplay so far, but I'm still skeptical about the story and characters. The faces, voicing, and dialog seem to target the young, hipster crowd, as if they decided to follow the same formula used in WD2.

Fingers crossed. I hate to believe all the SJW crap I read about Bioware but they sure did a disservice to the female Ryder face model.

As long as the story is good and the voice acting is up to par. FemShep was amazing. Hopefully it carries over.

Agree completely. Nothing wrong with Jayde Rossi's looks, but the in game face looks like she's inhaled Joker's toxin, and I don't mean Joker the pilot from past ME. LOL

Anyway, regarding voices, I just found out within the first 5 min of gameplay you can choose what tone of Voice Ryder responds with (Emotional, Logical, Casual, Professional).

My hope is that the Professional choice will cause both Ryder and those he speaks to sound more professional. Everything I've seen so far has them talking too carefree and casual.

Overall, my favorite game has to be Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I've played it both on Xbox 360 and PC but PC is much better in opinion for this game. I've been playing it for maybe 4-5 years now and I can easily say that I'm not bored with it. And I can say that without ruining the game with all the mods that are out there. I never liked modding the game because nowadays with the mods that people create, it's hard to not change the game and then ruin it entirely. Vanilla is more than fine but DLCs also make the game a bit more fun.

Skyrim without mods? What heresy is this?

Seriously, though I generally play through a game like Skyrim or Fallout once for the vanilla experience, then go nuts with the mods. It's really amazing to see what some mod authors can came up with, and how much depth they can add to the game.

recently spent a bit of time playing Inquisition through TriDef. pretty fun and awesome looking in 3D.
Origins is still one of my favorite games. Though Inquisition may not be as good, i really never understood all the hate i still see regarding it.

I think some of the hate comes from some of the design choices Bioware made. I've heard Inquisition described multiple times as a "single player MMO". There are a lot of fetch quests and good bit of grinding to be done.

I played through about 70 hours or so then got bored with it. Graphics are pretty, story is good but I get bored of grinding pretty easily.

40 hours in and not bored at all. I just got to what's considered your real base. I played Origins through all of the Origin stories and then another couple of times after that. I played DA II twice all the way through and started it at least twice more. Everything was so reused in that game it just didn't have the replay value of the first one. Since I'm so invested in the world I'm really enjoying the story and the old friends popping up.

There is certainly a bit of a learning curve.
It's not as grindy as The Witcher 3.

IIRC, the last time I played I was running around the Hinterlands and some desert area looking for some shards. I think you can get some elemental bonuses from them. After a couple of boss fights, I was afraid the shards would be necessary to have enough power to take on the next boss. Anyway, the whole shard quest bored me to tears and I dropped it at that point. I'd probably have to start over at this point, so I'm not sure I'm willing to invest more hours into it to get back to where I was.

EDIT: Yes, Origins was a great game. Played through once, though I started a new game maybe four or five times. Tough game, though I don't remember what difficulty I played it at.

have also recently got back to Mankind Divided. added a EVGA SC 1070 to the system and decided to test all the negative comments about "optimization" regarding the PC version. i really don't see the issue except people are upset that they can't get 120+fps on a very detailed and demanding game @ >=1440p with ultra settings.

@ 1080p get an easy 70fps(no hiccups) with everything except MSAA(stays @ 2x) turned all the way up. Nvidia Control Panel enhancements set to application controlled.
@ 1440 fps drops to ~45fps. with textures on High, using TemporalAA it's more like ~60fps.

for the visuals and gameplay provided, i'd say it runs pretty damn well. still am very much enjoying the game after 15 or so hours. also just about finishing Darksiders 2 Deathinitive, deathinitely still an awesome game.

off topic: how do i start a reply to a thread in Full Edit mode? every time it leads me to a simple reply window with no options. i have to simple reply and then edit in Full mode.

I'm just going to get a 1080 Ti. It's launching for exactly what I paid for my 980 Ti two years ago and early leaks are showing it to be as powerful as an overclocked SLI 980 Ti setup. I was expecting it to start at about $850. I should still get at least $300 out of selling my 980 Ti as well so my out of pocket cost comes down to ~$400. :)

I don't know, $700 seems kinda high for the 1080 Ti. I seem to recall the 980 Ti was $150 more, not $200 more (the base 1080 is supposedly dropping to $500). I was hoping for a $650 MSRP, and street prices of $600 soon after launch.

Newegg has the MSI 1080 Gaming for $490 right now on MIR, so I was expecting good pricing on the Ti.

The 980 Ti launched at $649. My EVGA 980 Ti SC ACX 2.0+ was a little over $700 with tax and shipping. I can double the power for the same price with a 1080 Ti. That makes me happy. I was expecting the 1080 Ti to launch at ~$850.

The 1080 Ti is also a much more significant upgrade ( 35-50% ) to the 1080 than the 980 Ti ( 20-30% ) was to the 980.

Yeah I hadn't realized the 1080 Ti has way more VRAM and a higher grade of it. At first I was wondering why it's 11GB vs 12 on the Titan X when I discovered that, but then I read about how much faster VRAM it is they're using.

If it really is as fast as 2 OCed 980 Tis though, it's hard to imagine you being able to sell your used 980 Ti for $300, because that would tend to make even one in new condition look to be valued at only $350. Used parts don't generally sell for that high.

Any word on how long before aftermarket cooled ones will be available? I'm reading the $700 is based on vapor chamber cooled founders edition models, and previous founders editions were more than street pricing on aftermarket cooled ones.

One can only hope, but I certainly wouldn't preorder or buy at launch without knowing. The way I see it there's still hope for $650 aftermarket cooled ones.

The 980 Ti pretty much equals a 1070. They're actually going for ~$350 used right now but they might drop a little with the 1xxx price cuts. I've not only moderated our Classified section for years I've used it successfully quite a few times. Better than giving ebay 10%.

I'm sure it will be like with the 980 Ti as far as card models go. Anywhere from slightly less than retail to a hundred dollars or more above retail. I'll wait until April or May for the new cards to come out and any bugs to be exposed. I don't early adopt after the P67 chipset fiasco.

Yeah but keep in mind that $700 price is for a vapor chamber founders edition, and the previous founders editions were higher price than the aftermarket cooled ones at launch, even though they ran at higher temps.

I'm saying we won't know what used 980 Tis will really go for until the aftermarket cooled 1080 Tis come out. The 1080 Ti founders edition could drop it to $300, and the aftermarket ones could drop it to $250.

$300 just seems unrealistic considering even the Xbox Scorpio will have 980 Ti level graphics power.

My particular 980 Ti was $10 over retail at launch. $659 vs $649 retail. That's an EVGA Superclocked with the ACX cooler and a backplate. Founder's Edition cards launched at $649. Now the 980 Ti was mostly a paper launch and since there was very little availability early prices were inflated. It took me almost 2 months to get a card and that was ordering from EVGA directly.

Also:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=980%20ti&_dcat=27386&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=3000&_trksid=p2045573.m1684

$300 looks like a quick sell to me.

No, I mean the 1080 Ti Nvidia listed at $700 is a founders edition. Not talking about 980 Ti here. Keep in mind too last round was Nvidia's first founders edition launch, so aftermarket cooled ones came out slower.

Right now there are several manufacturers already showing 1080 Ti aftermarket cooled cards on their sites, most with nice features like ball bearing fans. Some even with sophisticated features like EVGA's ICX, and ASUS' IP5X, both triple fan too, a new thing for EVGA.

So it really depends on the aftermarket cooled 1080 Ti prices, because they're not just more powerful to 1080 than 980 Ti was to 980, they have new features the 980 Ti models didn't on top of it.

You also can't trust eBay for pricing. You yourself earlier said you don't even trust them for selling. You often see abnormally high prices on eBay, because a lot of eBay sellers take advantage of suckers, and eBay never tries to regulate unfair pricing, because they make a 10% commission on everything like you said.

BTW, are you going to go EVGA again on the 1080 Ti, and are you going founders or aftermarket? The aftermarket EVGA is looking like one of the best ones to me.

I've always been saying the optimization of Mankind Divided is just fine, but everyone just starts up their autistic screeching over not being able to max it out.

It looks like the 1080 Ti Founders card thermal throttles just like the 1080 did. That's reason enough to avoid it unless you're doing a build in a tiny case. And I've bought EVGA since the GeForce 6600 so yeah I'll probably stick with them. That new 3 fan card sure looks good. Have to wait on real reviews to be sure though. As I said above I'm not going to be in a hurry. I'll get it next month or even in May if it takes a while for the partner cards to come out.

Yes it does, but yep, the review benches tell the whole story. I hope TechPowerUp gets a hold of some aftermarket ones soon, Mainly EVGA, ASUS, MSI, and Giga.

Giga used to be my go to brand for next upgrade, but since they got into that Aorus stuff, which looks more gimmicky than effective, I'm not that impressed with them.

I really don't think you need a 3 slot cooler with the die size of today's chips. I've read customer feedback saying the fat, copper plate cooler does nothing to improve temps.

Then again, EVGA's first aftermarket cooled cards weren't exactly among the lowest temp ones. I hope their triple fan ones compete better in that regard.
