From a 48 year old Man who has done a few things. Trust me when I state: "Do not do a job for the money." I know I have done it.
After about 4-7years on a job you will hate it as much as you did when you accepted the position. The only thing is you will have more responsibilities, bills, and be more tied down to proceed with what you want to do.
Remember if you do a job for money it is a job. If you do something because you want to do it, it is a career. I was a Journeyman Cabinet maker, love the job but hurt my shoulder and could not do it anymore. After that was commissioned sales jobs (being a doormat for rude public) Commissioned does not mean you are making profit on a sale. It means that you are willing to be treated like crap and blamed for everything in order to complete an order. Being in sales for 25+ years has really 'opened my eyes'. (shameless plug) I now shoot commercials for websites. www.netcommercial.net It is a new business and slow as I am ahead of the curve a bit. However I feel that it will take off, as people who open their online presence and realize that selling the sizzle is as important as being there after the sale. Good luck, and do what you want. Sometimes it is necessary to take a job that you may not want to do to make a payment <--see there is where you get trapped. However if you realize you are doing something that you enjoy you may be willing to make sacrifices and realize that a new Mercedes in the garage is really trite in the long run.

I'm in the accounting field (bookkeeper).
