The 7th gen series came out not too long ago.

The 8th gen is supposed to have a 40% performance boost over the regular Kaby Lake.

Supposed to be Q4 2017 but no official date. As for 40% faster, depends how you measure is. It looks like single core speed will be up very slightly but multi core/threads will be up 50%. The i5 & i'7 will now have 6 cores instead of 4. The i3 range are going up to 4 cores from 2 cores with hyperthreading. The potential gains in multithreaded applications look significant.

Will the 8xxx CPU's and 300 series motherboards be available before the end of 2017?

And will they really be 40% faster than Kaby Lake?
