Question When I plug in PCU computer shorts ?

Hello everyone,

I had an Alienware R6 and I was trying to upgrade to a new evo 970 plus ssd. I had to update the bios and my computer got stuck when trying to boot back up. I had to hard turn off with the power switch and after that my computer would no longer work. Just kept shorting

I got a new PSU which is a 24 converted into a 20 pin. Works like a champ. And tested the old one which seems to work fine (also a 20-24 pin)

then I got a new motherboard. After installing everything I had the same problem. When I take out the PCU plug it fires up like a champ. All the fans work great.
I am guessing that maybe I blew the PCU card? I don’t see any damage to it. Just not sure what to do next.

PCU ?--- what is this ? Did you mean CPU, PSU or GPU ?

In addition to clarifying what is meant by "PCU card," let's get the full specs, including exact brand and model of PSU. Having no information results in vague guesswork.
