When i shutdown windows, processes still running?

Hi guys,

I have just finished building new pc with windows 10 home.

However, when i shut down windows the usual shutting down screen with spinning dial shows up but then it shows some processes that will be forced to shut, even though i have nothing open.

Does anybody else face this problem?

And does anyone have a solution?

Is there Windows updates installing? If it's a brand new install it most likely is trying to install updates in the back ground while you try to shutdown.

Sounds like it could be virus related as well, but unlikely if it is a fresh install with nothing installed yet.

Try running Malwarebytes: https://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/ (Just get the free one).

Then also run this program as well. Spybot: https://www.safer-networking.org/dl/ (grab the free one here as well)

Then you can also try running the F-Secure Online scanner: https://www.f-secure.com/en/web/home_global/online-scanner

Bizarrely Microsoft suggest a clean boot for working out shutdown problems. What it does is identify if the cause is windows or one of your start up programs

So try that and see if it stops it happening, if it does, its one of your start up programs most likely. Have a look on task manager/start up tab and see what yoiu really don't need running then. disable any you don't.
