When i turn on my computer only the HP symbol comes up. does noting else

So today my mom was cleaning and accidently unplugged the surge protector and turned my computer off (tower) and now when i turn it on all i get is the HP thing and nothing happens. typically i can hear my computer start messing around/loading on boot up. but now it is quiet and will not go past the HP screen. nothing even pops up to say starting up or anything. is there a easy fix to this or do i need to take it in. the computer is only 2-3 years old.

probably the hard drive died from the surge since it boots up it seems everything else is fine

Yep, it seems that the hard drive is the cause , try going in to the BIOS and check if it detects the hard drive. To get in to the BIOS press the DELETE button on your keyboard when the HP logo appears and if it doesnt go in to the bios, restart your PC, and press the f12 button. If it doesnt detect the hard drive then replace it.
