I have unlimited internet usage in my household of 6 (i am the 3rd child of 5 and my mother is here too) and i just built my first pc ( im a teen) and connected it with ethernet. And whenever i have my computer turned on and using the internet the the wifi slows down for everyone else, and they are getting pissed at me. Is there anyway that i can stop that from happening? My modem is also my router and connects using cable. we r using rogers. Im sorry that i cant be more specific but im alot better with hardware than i am with internet, settings, and numbers. I personnally don't really care, but they do so i am trying to slove the problem i started. I live in Canada and i dont have that large of a budget but if the only option is an expensive one i can always save up, so try not to worry too much about price but try to keep it below maybe $250 Canadian. Any help?

what are you doing with the computer to pull so much bandwidth? Do you know the speed of your internet service? A wired connection has the ability to pull more bandwidth than wireless connections do so on a slow connection it can have an impact. what router do you have? you may be able to limit bandwidth to the Ethernet ports in the router settings. Another option is to limit the computers network connection speed to 10Mbps so you are not killing the internet connection at 100/1000Mbps. If you have a lit of internet bandwidth from the ISP like 300Mbps you should not be seeing this problem unless you are downloading huge files from fast servers.
