Question When is the right time to sell the computer?

Hello,

I have a nice computer i4790K and 16 GB of ddr3. It does everything I need. I game a little bit, but I don't like to spend hours on a game, so my gtx 1070 is enough.
I would like to avoid to keep this computer till the point that I will not be able to sell it and I'm wondering if this is the moment. I have checked that I can still sell the CPU on ebay and I suppose the RAM too. What do you think? I have never sold a computer, I still have my old pentium 2 and my old athlon xp 1800+. I would not like to keep it till the point I will not be able to sell it, but at the same time I don't need nothing more.

The best time to try an sell a computer is just after the next generation processor is released. In your case, that would have been with the 5th/6th generation processors were released. At that time, your processor was still relevant and high in demand. Today, not so much.

Now I'm not advocating that you should sell your computer and upgrade after each generation release, but that IS the best time to do so. As for when YOU should sell your computer, it's still a decent system and you can probably get a couple hundred for it.

It's funny, I think I got this processor just before the new CPU was coming because it had a reduced price and the ddr3 was much cheaper that ddr4 at that time. So, following your advice I would have sold the computer just after buying it xD. Thanks for the advice anyway.
