I have been trying to search for this solution for a couple days now and I am out of luck. This is a personal build that I built last summer and right now I am trying to reinstall windows to give it a fresh start. I am using a bootable USB to install and I can get it to the language selection screen. As soon as this screen appears, I have no response from my keyboard or mouse. My motherboard is an ASUS Z971-Plus (Z97 chipset). I have made sure to plug my mouse and keyboard into USB 2.0 ports and I have played around with BIOS settings involving USB ports but still no luck. Can anybody help?

I actually just figured it out. I tried using an old keyboard with a PS/2 port and that got me through the language selection and install pages. Once I got to the partitions page I plugged my mouse back into a USB 2.0 port and the cursor appeared on the screen and started to work. I have no idea why it didn't work before but it finally did.
