1. They cry in front of the benchmarks results.

2. They check if they can get an e-mail rebate.

3. They wonder why they are nVidia FANS.

4. They think : "How many people bought nVidia over my recommendation? Duh... I will lost so many friends!".

5. They try to find someone to sell their FX card?

6. They remove the FX and put back the "old" TI!

7. They bought an ATI and the hack into the drivers to change all "ATI Radeon" strings to "nVidia GeForce FX".

8. Any suggestions???

I've recommended both ATI and nVidia in the recent past (5600 Ultra Rev2, 9700 Pro, etc) and I can already tell you what my friends who now own nvidia will do... Nothing. They're happy, The card is considerably faster than the geforce256, tnt2 non-ultra, and mx420 card they replaced.

Fact is, the only people who care beyond a certain point are the enthusiests, no one else even notices so long as they can run the game in some manor (even if it means most options off.)

In fact, I could goto anyone of the 8-9 people I've recently sold/upgraded computers and say "What do you think the best graphics card is?" and I guarentee 90%+ will say "Geforce". I'm personally holding off for next gen presently, im not interested in the geforcefx cards and Im not impressed enough with the performance of the 9800 pro to bother with it.

I'm still a nvidia fan. I would be quite fickle to turn around suddenly and forget the revolution in graphics they started.

I'm also an ATI fan ..and for the time being i have an ati card instead of a nvidia one.

Cause ultimately..who does the selling is irrelevant.

only thing that matters is price/performance (and ethics)

I agree with you!
My post was a little bit... sarcastic!

The more power to the users! This is the ultimate goal for ATI and nVidia. More power = good money in 3d cards business!

Dave, I hate to say it...I know I saw this one coming...and I'm pretty sure you did too. There aren't just fanATIcs and Nvidiots nowadays...there's FlagBois now too...they'll flock to the banner of any new flag that is posted at the top of the mountain. Oh well...We told em so.

LOL! You mean the guys around that purchase the $400 video cards from whoever has the best of the best?

My OS features preemptive multitasking, a fully interactive command line, & support for 640K of RAM!

Ok, here's why I hate ATI:

1) their drivers sucked in the past and yes they still suck! Especially those older RADEONs are still experiencing trouble with certain high end games. (look at 3)
2) ATI cards are in my opinion and the low quality tech support they offer way too expensive. What did you expect from a bunch of ripoffs anyway?
3) While I acknowledge that the current Nvidia cards, the FX family are all but good; there is the point that ATI has for the first time in MANY years made their first real stable cards... but the software is still lacking seriously. Ever tried playing an OpenGL game on the newest cards with all options enabled? Nightmare from hell if you ask me...
4) Well then, we'll see how good their new age cards will be, but I predict they will be as bad as the older ATI cards, in drivers that is. If there is one thing I have to admit to ATI, it is the fact that their hardware itself is flawless. The trouble is their drivers. Stable now, but you guys better hold on to something because their drivers are already degenerating again. It will soon be back to the same old crap, Nvidia leading again and ATI back to the gutter. Only a small mather of time.

Yup, despite all trouble I had with my FX5900 (which are now fixed) I am still a Nvidia fanboy. ATI will fall back to it's old habits within a few months. You'll see...

Is it a bad thing if there is smoke coming out of my case?

Come on!

You are worst than me, I was just having some "sarcastic" fun and you come in claiming that HOLY nVidia can't be in second place...

Maybe, you are right, and the next GPU generation will be dominated by nVidia. But, for now, the only numbers we have are FX versus Radeon 9X00. And those numbers are mostly in favor of ATI. I don't necessarly say that FX are the worst thing ever!

But, if I want to be honest, these day I usually recommend ATI Radeon 9600 PRO as a good performance/price card. In the past, I recommended a lot GeForce cards. Because they were the best performer for the price. Tomorrow, what will I recommend? I dunno!

And for the drivers issue I don't think ATI are bad as you stated. If they are that bad, where can I find the people or thread that talks about those drivers issues?

And, you seems to have a nVidia based system, how do you know that ATI drivers are so bad?

I have a Radeon 8500 and I had some problems in a couple of games, but they are fixed now. Catalyst release solved all this I had. Of course, I haven't testes ALL the games in earth. But, the games I play are running fine.

In conclusion, I will repeat the comment I made in this thread... Performance in 3D graphics = money for ATI and nVidia. So they will always push technology further. Yesterday was the nVidia day, today, it's the ATI day and tomorrow... I can't wait to see next generation GPU! They will be awesome!

No Therod its getting abit much now, and I'm sure you agree? Although you might see me as a stranger nOOb WHATEVER I do frequent the forums and read the posts on a daily basis, but when almost every single post is about ow NVIDIA sucks and ATi's the best "yada yada yada yada" it tends to rub people the wrong way, you no what I mean ????

all I have to say is that nVidia doen't suck. They have just made a mistake with their whole FX line (from day one it has had all kinds of problems) and won't admit that this one time their engineering was inferior and apologize to their consumer. Instead, they try to cheat in image quality and try to increase performance by lying, which is completely unethical. They should just admit it when they screwed up and take it like a man.

By the way you people waiting for the det50 drivers to miraculously double the performance of your nvidia cards without any decrease in image quality, read this:

http://www.gamersdepot.com/hardware/video_cards/ati_vs_nvidia/dx9_rel50/001.htm

No it doen't talk about half-life 2, a game as you say is not yet out and is in bed with ATI etc etc... it actually talks about Halo and Tomb raider, some other DX9 games that are recently coming out. The performance numbers with pixel shader 2.0 are very similar to those of HL2 and the article clearly shows with screenies that the det50's obviously decrease visual quality for performance.

So quit lying nVidia and admit when you screwed up and go back to the drawing board and come up with a kick ass product like we are all used to.

And before someone says that I am an ATI fanboy, I purchased cards that gave the performance and were engineered correctly, here is my purchase history:

voodoo3, geforce2, geforce4 ti4400, and now Radeon 9800pro (by the way I currently run an nforce2 mobo)

And no the drivers for ATI don't suck. I have not had a single problem running any of the games I played including counterstrike in opengl. Currently I believe ATI drivers to be better than nVidia graphics drivers because they don't "ignore" the settings I use in games and lower visual quality regardless of user input.

[sarcasm]Wow...and here I thought ATI had nothing but stability since the 8500 days. Wow...good thing you cleared that up for me[/sarcasm]...um..Oh yeah, yer full of crap too. Just thought I'd let you know that. The post you made had nothing but massive flames shooting out of it. Try posting something with 1)support for your main points and 2)Actual information that is up for debate...not opinions that you are trying to state as fact.

Not that I'm any better than anyone else in 'how to post' but here is an example of a proper post/reply to post in this hardware forum:
1. Nothing more stable that the Cat 3.7's...in fact..the Cat 3.5 were probably the beginning of stability. Oh, and I really liked the flickering problem with the last round of Detonators...shows how good Nvidia's driver support is as well. Bottom line is, not one graphics vendor can forsee all the problems their product with have with all games. That's what driver releases are for. Nvidia hit their stride around the GF3 series of cards for drivers...which was their THIRD generation card. ATI hit their stride with the 9000 series...which was their? Oh yes it was...their THIRD generation graphics chip. Interesting eh?
2. ATI cards? What vendor? Asus? Sapphire? Vision Tek? If you notice...2 of those vendors also manufacture Nvidia boards. So if you bash ATI, you're going to need to bash them as well. Also, Tech Support is bad with ATI eh? My 9500 Pro comes with LIFETIME tech support AND warranty. Can't complain about that one.
3. I play OpenGL games with all options enabled on a daily basis. I get triple digit frames from UTGOTY and QuakeIII with NO problems whatsoever. In fact, there is a thread IN THIS FORUM that will tell you all about the openGL debate. People that say ATI sux for OpenGL...go to this thread for a detailed breakdown (mind you, it is a long thread) on Nvidia and ATI in OpenGL.
4. As far as your last 'point', drivers on ATI cards ARE stable. Where is your proof that they are "Degenerating?" I haven't seen any degradation in driver performance. I have no idea what you are basing your predictions on...well actually I do...your own biased opinion...but I don't know where you got the notion from. It's obvious that you didn't think of this yourself because it sounds like the same crap that spews from fanboi's mouths on a daily basis. So until you can back that one up, I'm going to delete it from my mental register and not care to read it again.

The one and only reason I even responded to your post is so that you see how to do it right. You won't learn unless someone sets the example for you to go by. You need support to back up opinions AND proof to back up your facts. Once you get those...flame away...but don't just post CRAP. It makes you seem ignorant. Hope this helps you in the future.

My R9600P works fine in OGL and DX games and Demos. And I've clocked it all over the map, got tons of stuff installed, and uninstalled and re-installed each new version of the drivers without a single driver issue (the only isse yet was my mistakenly cleaning up W2K before rebooting).

I had no major concern with my AIW PCI, My RageFuryPro, and My R8500DV. I also had no problems with my old nV TNT card.

I think you've obviouly got an axe to grind and you ias as clarly stated isn' a basis fo anyone's decision making, hopefully.

If you think that the durrent DETs are any more stable than the CATs then you haven't read heir list of issues, or their other 'extra-curricular' activities, any driver that denies my settings isn't a good thing.

You like so many are living in the past, both point 1 and point 3 (which you convinient linked together yourself) are pretty much the same thing tha nV will experience over the next few months and have been experiencing over the last year. The main difference, that was ATI's PAST this IS nV's PRESENT!

Long live Matrox and the Best Visuals in the Industry!
