My qs are as follows;
1. how does the motherboard calculates the rpm of fan(s)
2. the votages are given like this +5V, +12V etc and these start from
zero thats wht i think. but the motherboard show from -3.22V to +5 V.
my qs is if the negative side increases does it have some kinda of
effect on the overall voltage? (voltage diff is increasing but max +5V
remains same)
bye

Fans with 3 wires have what is called a Tachogenerator on them, chips on the
motherboard use this signal to report RPM from the motor.

Any unwelcome voltage change spells trouble.

there is a hardware monitor chip on the mobo type ITE8705/12F etc.
it reports temperatures and fan rpms

forget the negative voltage values - it's mostly incorrect metered
only the positive voltage values are correctly metered
