You can get a 4850 for $100 (us) or a 4870 for bit more. A GTS 250 is priced between the two amd cards. They would all give you good performance at that resolution.

Would you be happier if he wrote it at the end of September, and then publish it Oct 1st and then the rest of the month we have to hear people complain about there being no HD5770/5750, G210/G220 mentioned?

Like Fermi it will arrive when it's done, until then go read some reviews.

4850 hands down right now at that price. The 5770 is nice but the extra few FPS probably isn't worth the 40-50% increase.
