This is my build so far, saving up to get it. Are there any more components i need, such as fan controller, or a reservoir for the pump?
Also how does coolant work, is it worth it.
any components I should upgrade? First build, looks solid to me, but im an idiot and you guys prolly know what your talking about.

UPDATE: SPECIFICALLY THE MOTHERBOARD. I am hoping to run games at high graphics, so phasing out anything that might interfere would be nice to know early.
Some games will be competitive, like Overwatch and COD, so best build is best. Around the price I have it now is optimal budget.

Motherboard will do nothing for game performance, good or bad as longs as it's compatible.
I can't see anything to "Phase out" if you are willing to pay for it all.
64GB of RAM I can't see what good would it do for gaming unless OC is use as server, 32GB would be more than fine, maybe less but faster ?
Also make that Windows 11, it handles new CPUs better specially with those different Intel cores. MS just stopped selling W10 and there only less than 2 years of support left.

On your list, I have some thoughts:
The 13th gen I5-13400 is priced similar to the 12600K yet performs better. Particularly in single thread use where competitive gamers need it.
Here is a review:

On cooling, air will work equally well and be cheaper.
The thermalright peerless assassin is a good buy:
https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/thermalright-peerless-assassin-120-se
Lest you think 13th gen needs liquid cooling, here is an interesting report on 13900K cooling with air:
https://www.tomshardware.com/features/intel-core-13900k-cooling-tested
Nothing wrong with as5, but most coolers come with adequate paste.

I like the motherboard and ddr4 ram.
Is there a real need for 64gb?
I would think 32gb 3600 speed would be about right.

Love samsung and Intel for ssd quality.
But, do not necessarily chase fast sequential benchmark speeds.
990PRO is fine with your budget.

I see you're running a 1080p monitor with this...a 3070 or 3070ti would be plenty for 1080p gaming and save you a few bucks. Your video card choice should really be dictated by the resolution you plan on gaming at.

Swapping out the GPU cooler with one of Corsair's 420mm coolers would COST you a few bucks, but you'd be cooler and quieter than that smaller 280mm cooler...just make sure it fits in your case, lol.

Don't bother with the paste, AS5 isn't exactly a 'good' paste to start with, it's very mediocre in performance and requires periodic replacement. Should never be used on an AIO because it's a 'dryout' paste (which is fine) but once it dries out it becomes susceptible to vibrations from AIO pumps. There are much better pastes for AIO use.

The cooler is overkill, for such small wattage cpus, but that's fine, just means the fans will never need revving up to anything close to full speeds, so noise is at an absolute minimum. You'll get the same performance out of a smaller AIO, a 240mm is basically the same as a Big Air cooler, which is still overkill. The only advantage offered by a 280mm/360mm AIO on that cpu or its equivalent is the fact it comes with case fans, which generally requires a seperate purchase when using air coolers.

Air or liquid do the exact same job, they just go about doing it in a different way, have different advantages and drawbacks. Cost is neither. The air cooler by itself is cheaper, but 3x pack of rgb case fans can run as high as $120, so an air cooler + case fans can easily cost more than an AIO, but the advanced AIO's with fancy OLED displays offer advantages to some, but can easily cost more than an air cooler + case fans.

So do the research to figure out exactly what you Do need, then decide what extras you want or prefer, what are advantages or disadvantages to you personally. On a 12600k/13400, air cooling is most definitely a viable option.

64GB of RAM is super overkill as is a 1000w psu and 280 AIO. There seems to be some issues with the Samsung Pro (see link down below). btw most all cpu coolers these days come with a small tube of thermal paste.

There we go, lowered it! I can expand in the future I suppose, should the need arise.

I will perhaps try to record, so being quite will be nice.
And that means I wont have to phase it out anytime soon, right?

I do plan on trying to get a much better moniter, but they are EXPENSIVE!!! They practically double the cost of the entire thing!!! after a month or two of saving up Ill get a better one, for now ill have a 1440 since its pretty close in price anyway.
Thanks!!

Just use a quality 4k tv. I use a 50" full-grid LED Sony for a monitor for my main desktop. It's pure heaven:love:
