I don't have the Empire army list so I have a question about van
Horstmann's speculum. How will the speculum affect my character if he
has a magic weapon?

Assume that I have a sorcerer of slaanesh with the chaos daemon sword
(WS, S, I and A as greater deamon), and I get challenged by someone
with the speculum. Will the enemy get my sorcerer's stat line with or
without the weapon? Will I get to use the power of the sword to get my
good stats or do I have to use the bad stats of the enemy?

If I have extra attacks from the Pendant of Slaanesh, will those be
kept or taken? How about the new ones I get during the challenge?

If I have the Blade of Blood (gain wound with strength test) will I
get to use the characters strength or do I have to use the enemy's?

it only switches the basic characteristics themselves.

the daemon sword's a special case because it actually replaces the
character's basic stats instead of modifying them. there's a case for
arguing that the sorcerer would retain the daemon's stats while his opponent
used the sorcerer's own basic stats, but I think this would be skirting the
intent of the rules. the most sensible solution is to say that the daemon's
stats wouldn't be used by either party, only their own basic values.
however, the sorcerer would still hit himself on the roll of a 1, as that's
a separate effect of the same weapon.

those will be kept - the speculum only trades the stat values themselves,
not any bonuses or penalties.

ditto.

again, the enemy's.

You know, it kind of depends where you put the speculum in and what is
bringing out. My speculum has seen greater demons in the past that would not
go away on a 2+. I generally stay at arm's length when I deal with the
speculum.

Women all over the kingdom may now rejoice that berto will stay at arms
length.
