Asus SK8N for $199
OR
Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939 for $215

I'm not interested in overclocking at all...i just want something fast and reliable. I know the price is a little high, thats because i'm ordering from local computer store.

Along with the MB, i will be getting these parts
Athlon 64 3500+ Skt939
2x512MB DDR PC3200 dual channel
Leadtek Nvidia GeForce 6800GT 256MB
Maxtor 120GB IDE 7200Rpm

Thanks for your help

they are both fine boards.

But be aware that there ARE issues with that Leadtek 6800GT, a couple of threads of complaints in the videocards forum.

That's great hardware you plan on buying, maybe you might consider the 8mb buffer version of that hard drive or maybe a WD Raptor 10K rpm to make it even better!
Edited by snotling on 11/05/04 04:06 PM.

Because 939 is pin to pin compatible with 940. (not the other way around)

----errata: ASUS says the board is OK with Athlon 64FX. BECAUSE of S940 A64FX model 53... 939 and 940 are NOT compatible.

Prof133 pointed out in private that there are diferences in the pinout that I verified as true... I guess My memory failed me once again.

Thanks Prof.
