Which antivirus do you use?

I am debating on what antivirus program I want to install on my win 7 build. I usually use Kaspersky Internet security for XP, but I was thinking about using a free one as I have already used up my 3 license limit. Should I get AVG, Avast, Kaspersky and/or just antivirus or an internet security suite?

I've been using NOD (from ESET) - works very well, proven hueristics, and I don't notice it running at all.

I use Norton 360 and love it. It doesn't really fit your request for free though.

Personally I hate Norton, McAfee doesn't seem brilliant either and Sophos doesn't detect anything. I would say Kaspersky is probably the best and AVG is ones of the best free ones.

Have you tried the latest version of Norton 360? They completely overhauled it, and it's actually fast and light on resources now.

I use AVG Free, and scan with Malware-bytes once in a while. Have used Spybot S&D in the past as well as SpywareBlaster.

I was using Avast on my old XP install, and have Kaspersky on the Windows 7 RC install I'm using now. I must say, when the beta/trial for Kaspersky on Windows 7 runs out, I will probably go back to Avast.

I decided to try Avast Pro, because I could try it for free for 60 days. I don't know if I will stick with it or not, but I wanted to test kaspersky V10 with my XP HDD before putting it on 7. And for those looking for a cheap place to buy AV software, purplus seems to be about the cheapest place to me.

avira antivir personal. way better than Avast, and free.

Having said that, Free AVG and Zonealarm. Manual spyware scans and about every three months a manual scan for rootkits using a BartPE disk.

AVG Free and Comodo Firewall here too.

I almost gave up on Comodo for a while though when it started blocking anything not in the program files folder from running... Vista 64.

They did fix it eventualy though

I am using Avast and it has caused no problems on either system using the RTM.

Nortons and Mcafee are the ones viruses are *designed* to work on, since they're the most popular in the antivirus world.
I've had them both, neither of which could detect a simple virus from frostwire, meanwhile NOD32 / Kaspersky / BitDefender could, as both are better designed, and less targetted.

It's your choice, basically if you want absolutely no backdoor trojans (even the good, helpful ones), go for NOD32 or kaspersky, other than that do bitdefender.

ESET Smart Security [Nod32 Antivirus System] provides the best solution for Windows 7. Updates are very frequent and small in size so as to bypass any network bandwidth limit.

The real-time protection is way too good. Also as ScottEq said, it is extremely lightweight on system resources. Even I do not feel it running at all!

Available in both x86 and x64 versions, it is definitely a must-have for Windows 7.
