I never found a report of the type.. I read the system requirements in the download pages when I used a PIII + 256MB machine and Avast was the only AV that did not bogg it down, and the low system requirements are still low on the newer editions, probably the lowest in any antivirus. BTW, I still use it on a P4 2.0Ghz + 1.0GB RAM and will probably not replace it anytime soon. So, the best report is own experience.
Bitdefender Free is very simple and barely shows up in task manager.
I said "good" as in acceptable.. but I didn't say great. Just to be clear, I don't like it myself but others do... It's also rated 2nd after Avast... so I can't go saying what I really think.

Yes it can, I have tested different antivirus and the lightest of the most popular is Avast, followed by Avira, AVG not so light. Cloud Antivirus are probably the lightest but you need an acctive internet connection for them to work because the deffinitions database is at their website. But cons are inconvenient.. for example Panda Cloud says: No automatic scans, No extra filters for web browsing or email, Lacks advanced features.

For Windows XP, a PC with a CPU clock speed of 500 MHz or higher, and 256 MB RAM or higher.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7, a PC with a CPU clock speed of 1.0 GHz or higher, and 1 GB RAM or higher.
$39.99, i think I will pass that , so many to choose from , good or bad, just want the one with lite on resources. and because I'm a gamer , don't want the AV to slow things down, you know .
you can get some of the best ones for 10 dollars but the renewal insults you........ or you can pay 50 bucks up front and after rebate the cost is zero. ............ check the specs on their sites....... see if they have "gamer" mode.

Dude I could consider my self a power user as well. and I wouldn't be cheap or compromise when it comes to my protection. I recommend this based on its performance and protection. there is a trial. I suggest you give it a try. I worked for many years with all the top free and paid AV in a service environment. and WBR came up on top for the exact specs you requested in an AV. in other words, extremely gamer friendly.
