I have an old P4 and I want to build a machine for retro gaming, but I don't know which motherboard I should buy. I would like to know if there are any mobos that can handle overclocking nicely without costing too much. Any help?

A p4 could if very very very lucky oc +-100mhz. So basically don't bother. Just get any random old dell or even better a core 2 based system since those still support windows xp and are dirt cheap.

I had a mobo that does not work any more and I could push my P4 1ghz without raising voltage, thats the thing
why doesn't the mobo work anymore? Is it possible that these two things are related, whilst the CPU might have been happy at +1Ghz, how stressed was the board?

It died because I broke the chipset accidentally when replacing the thermal paste.
