Hello techies,

So I've recently decided to switch over to Comcast for my internet/TV and I'm wondering what Comcast compatible modem/router I should get? Should i get a separate modem for the TV and router for wireless internet or Should i just go for a combo one? I'll be on their Blast Plus plan so up to 50 MB for Internet and @ 45+ channels. I'm more worried about getting the right speeds over wifi for internet so any router suggestions would be awesome. There will be 2 computers and 3 phones for wifi just fyi. Budget wise the cheaper the better but I don't want to sacrifice performance/speed. Basically the best performance/speed i can get without having to pay too much of an arm and leg. I'm looking to spend only @ $100. Thank you and much appreciation in advance for any advice.

Basically get any modem you want that is compatible with comcast. In my opinion there isn't much difference besides price.

As for the router get any one of this list: http://www.cnet.com/topics/networking/best-networking-devices/
Most Reliable Router though outdated: http://goo.gl/3t4yoX
I have had it for something like 6+ years and it has yet to fail.
Best Price/Spec: http://goo.gl/huZDdp
The one I have its pretty good: http://goo.gl/Fz9Vev
How many square ft. is your house? Also the one that they give you is pretty decent (modem/router combo). If it isn't enough you can always just get a ethernet over powerline wifi extender.

If you want to get your own then check out Cnet for some reviews on routers and any modern modem should be fine. (modem is the one that needs to be comcast compatible).

Thanks for replying :). My house is approx. 1188 sq ft. I didn't want to lease one from Comcast because then i'd have to pay a $9 monthly fee and that adds up over time so i figured i might as well buy one and have it be a one time cost thing instead. Forgive me for asking but whats a ethernet over powerline wifi extender do? or rather what is it? i think i have a general idea but i'm not too sure.

So is it better to get a separate modem and router then? I was looking at reviews but then i got all confused and figured It might be better to ask the community and see if they have suggestions. I'll do some more research though. Thanks :)
