Hello,
can someone explain me the difference between contrast ratios? My old monitor has 8000:1, the new one I'm looking for has 1000:1 or other one 3000:1. So I can't understand does it really matter a lot? Will the difference be huge?

Thanks

There is no 'standard' for manufacturers to report contrast ratio. It is literally whatever they want to put in the advertising material.

With monitors, how it looks to your eyes, for your use, in your room lighting is the key.
Not the raw numbers or specific technology.

"5000000:1 Contrast Ratio "

That is obviously not "5,000 times better" than your current 1000:1 monitor.

Well the way I understand contrast ratio is the diffrence between the brightest it can be to the darkest it can be, with a higher contrast ratio you have deeper blacks and more vibrant bright images. The higher the contrast ratio the better in my understanding. Here is an example, high contrast ratio in the left, lower on the right.

Okey, if you're saying that I shouldn't focus on the contrast then I'll skip this spec when selecting monitor, thanks:) I just thought that this could make a big difference
