Question Which CPU for Budget Build w/ iGPU

Following advice from from a number of you on a previous thread, its time to put my old PC to rest and build from scratch. This will replace an old Dell Inspiron (i3-6100) that is just plain slow for my needs.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: System is used for basic home office work (Word/Excel/PPT), email, surfing the internet, Zoom meetings and Quicken. I do a little bit of CAD work (typically Autocad Fusion 360 or Solidworks 2010) I also occasionally edit/create short videos for high school classes (I’m a teacher) using OpenShot or Lightworks.

Budget Range: Not firm, but $600 US would be nice.

Are you buying a monitor: No

Location: Sacramento, CA, USA

Your Monitor Resolution: 27” 1920 x 1080 Resolution

Other: Both systems use integrated graphics. Once (if?) GPUs come down in price, I can see adding a separate GPU card.

I've put together 2 options, although I think I'm leaning towards the AMD machine. Any feedback on which route to go? Anything I should change?

I agree with not using the sn550. However, that case is meh at best. The fans that come with it are loud, and don't push a ton of air. You can almost always find a cooler master, fractal, etc. case on sale around that price with nicer fans, and a nicer case.
Nothing wrong with a 80+ gold psu(as long as it isn't aresgaming or whatever)

What kind of GPU do you think you could be installing some day? Your G3 is excellent and Hellfire recommended a solid budget PSU (since you don't really need the G3 with these specs). If you're thinking of slapping in a 3080 or something at some point, we want to make sure to pick you a PSU that gives you sufficient room (and quality) to grow.

Thanks. Are you saying the DIYPC or or Cougar cases are meh? Or both?

The most likely would be a NVIDIA RTX 2060 (I don't know exactly which model) from my son's gaming computer when he decides to upgrade. (I'm a sucker for "sponsoring" his PC and car upgrades by buying his old parts)

I'm going to take a second look at the PSU. Maybe a semi-modular Bronze. (I have to admit, I didn't mean to pick the gold initially)

Otherwise, I think I have a plan! Thanks again for the help!

If you are going to over pay for anything then a quality PSU is where to do it to be fair. You can certainly get away with spending a bit less on the PSU and still be fine however.

If your going to get one of the 5600G or 5700G get a motherboard with a BIOS flash button your probably going to need it.

Cougar MX 330 I have recommended a few times. I vaguely recall a decent review by Canada Computers or something. It is cheap, and cheaply made, but it has mostly modern internal features, so it works. Compared to some of the other budget cases it is impressive.

A lot still have the full drive cages and 5 1/4" bays. Or completely solid front panels being the other popular cheap design.
