I can't decide which CPU to buy Ryzen 5 1600 or i5 8400. (Budget around 150)
I'm building a PC for gaming but i will sometimes stream or make videos.
I will have this CPU for a long time. Ryzen 5 1600 should make it longer, because it has more threads and cores than i5 right? And that future games will support ryzen 5 better because of multithread or multicore setting. What would be your suggestion? Thanks!

Ryzen 1600x doesnt come with a cooler,1600 comes with the wraith spire which is plenty good enough even with a 3.8/3.9ghz overclock.

Streaming ? 100% go with the ryzen 1600,as long as you are only running a 60-75htz monitor then the gaming difference between ryzen & intel is minimal.

I would go for the Ryzen 5 1600X, only a few pounds more than the 1600.
It beats the i5 8400 as the i5 cannot be overclocked and stays at 2.8GHz, but the Ryzen 1600X can turbo all the way to 4GHz. The Ryzen 1600X also has 12 threads, but the i5 8400 only has 6.

You'll need a good cooling solution for any of these CPUs, especially if you plan to stream.

Hope this helped.

Just to put things into perspective:

games are better on intel. by ~10% if other parts can handle it.
but stream and video edits will use all 12 threads instead of 6 which will result in ALMOST half rendering time (as single thread is slightly weaker than in intel but we have 2x of them). If you count that you can easly make it even better with faster ram, Ryzen is looking very good.

What if i want to play on 144hz monitor?

If you want to stream, the R5 1600 (or R5 2600) is your only option. The i5 8400 is incapable of streaming and gaming at the same time, unless you tone down the streaming quality significantly.

The stock cooler of the AMD Ryzen processors are good enough, unless you want to overclock.
