//PLEASE READ UNTIL THE END//

Ok so recently I'm having some problem with my CPU temps. I used HWMonitor to monitor it. However, it seems to bring me false temps such as 120 degrees Celsius in IDLE and up to 135 degress CELSIUS. I searched on some forums and it seems that the silicon melting point is around 130 degrees.

So, I decided to compare my temps with different monitoring software. I used AMD Overdrive, HWMonitor and Open Hardware Monitor. I was surprised to the fact that all of these different software brought very different temperature. Here's a screenshot of it:

AMD Overdrive : 10
HWMonitor : 100
Open Hardware Monitor : 60

So my question is : Which of these or other CPU temp monitoring software should I refer to ?

Temps in Open Hardware Monitor seems legit. Though, to confirm this, you could try out few more programs that show CPU temp.

I'm using Speccy, HWinfo64 and Core Temp.
download links,
Speccy: https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download
HWinfo64: https://www.hwinfo.com/download.php
Core Temp: http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

Under the spoiler is a screenshot i made out of all 3 programs after few benchmarks to show consistent temps between all 3 programs:

I'm downloading these programs right now. Plus, one more thing. i thought the my fans were spinning very fast because my Cpu temps reached 100 degrees. Now that I know it won't pass 70 degrees in load, why does my fan still spins very fast ?

the above poster is using an intel cpu , the best software for you ro use is AMD Overdrive. the 10c that you see is how far you are away from AMDs perceived temperature safety point . your fan is spinning very fast because it is attempting to keep the temperature of your cpu below that threshold .

edit: the closer is gets to that threshold you will notice the cpu will either throttle and attempt to cool itself down.. or the system will become unstable and freeze.. and either shut down or require you to power it off . it should not reach that level though, when you get chance .. please inform us what your thermal margin is when your system is idle.. using AMD overdrive . it should be around the 70c area .

Yes, i'm using Intel CPU but i have an AMD build too (full specs in my sig). On my old AMD build, i'm using Speccy to monitor my temps. Since the OS there is Win XP Pro SP2 32-bit, newer CPU temp programs doesn't work there, including the AMD Overdrive. AMD Overdrive OS support starts with Win Vista.

Did manage to overheat my old AMD CPU several times, got as high as 102°C according to Speccy, before i got automatic shutdown. After some airflow upgrades, got the idle CPU temp from 60°C down to 40°C and under load, CPU goes up to 80°C. Solved my CPU overheating problem. Btw, i took all CPU temps from Speccy.

Though, the above posted link is good explanation how to read CPU temps correctly when using AMD Overdrive.

i think we may also be dealing with the mobile version of the APU and not the desktop which will also have a bearing on his temperatures . laptops and airflow!

you're welcome but you don't need to thank me as i didn't write it :p haha
