[SOLVED] Which CPU to go for? (Upgrading from an FX 6300 to Ryzen

I’m relatively new to building pcs and I’ve had a “gaming” pc for a few years but it’s really outdated and I’m looking for an upgrade.

I currently have an FX 6300 CPU with a GTX 1050 2GB and 16gb ddr3

I’m looking at buying a Ryzen CPU bundle on amazon but don’t know what to go for.

My options are either:
ADMI CPU Motherboard Bundle: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU Six Core 3.9GHz CPU, ASUS Prime B450M-K Motherboard, Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB 3000Mhz DDR4 RAM

Or

Components4All AMD Ryzen 5 2400G 3.6Ghz (Turbo 3.9Ghz) Quad Core Eight Thread CPU, ASUS Prime B350M-A Motherboard & 8GB 3200Mhz Corsair DDR4 RAM Pre-Built Bundle

Unless someone recommend a better option

I will plan on using my 1050 graphics card in the pc until I can upgrade to a better one, I wouldn’t use the integrated graphics

I’m not looking to spend a load of money just enough so I can play certain games such as GTA V, Arma 3, ARK and possibly Battlefield V etc.
The bundles come pre built with mobo

Keep in mind I came from a 1700x which is a first gen part. To be honest, the 1st generation part played just fine for me. I really didn't need to upgrade. But I will say after doing so, it feels like the 3600 is smoother. Like not as many frame drops etc. It's not like the 1700x was bad, or that there were frame drops often or anything. Just the 3600 seems to have a higher frame rate and just smoother at a higher refresh rate as well. But even if you ran a Ryzen 1600 for example, it's still going to game.

On a budget, the 2600 is going to be great. I would however skip the 1660. The 1660 super is only 30 dollars more than the regular 1660 super. So I would either go for that card, or if you want to spend more money, I would...

You need at least a 6 core to run BFV online.
I had a 4 core Ryzen and online was a slideshow. Upgraded to an 8 core and everything is smooth with my 2080 Ti.

So get the 2600 and a better GPU.
Alright, Would the 2600 run games well with a good GPU or should I be looking more into the expensive alternatives? I don’t plan on running at ultra or anything, just medium to high settings with playable FPS

I’m not sure how much those bundles are but you can get a ryzen 2700 + b450 + 8gb of ram for 260$ us on Newegg . If those bundles are cheaper go with the 2600 it’s gonna be much better than the 2400g

The 2600 still has plenty of power to run newer games with a good gpu. Though if you can save a little more a 3600 is even better.

I wouldn't even consider a 2400g, the 2600 is just so much better.

Remember these are just bundles, you'll still have to assemble yourself. Just a heads up as your comment said they were prebuilt.

The bundles I’m looking at are advertised as already assembled all I would need to do would be fit it into my box and plug it in, at least that’s how. It’s advertised, also I have found this for just under £300:
ADMI CPU Motherboard Bundle: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6 cores, 4.2GHz boost, ASUS Prime B450M-K Motherboard

Guessing that it would last a few more years than the 2600? I’m looking to upgrade once and that be it for a few years if possible.
I’m just going through my options as I’ve realised how outdated the fx 6300 is

The 3600 is obviously better than the 2600 and if the price difference between both is not big, get the 3600.

Make sure the B450M is compatible with Ryzen 3000 as it will surely need a bios update using an older 1st or 2nd Gen CPU.

Ohh yeah I’m aware of that, I’m not wanting to spend loads but if I need to spend a little more to get something better performing that’ll last a bit longer I can do it
First of all if you will go for b450 and amd ryzen 5 3600 you will need a bios update only motherboard who supports ryzen third gen procesors without the bios update is MSI tomahawk max b450. if that motherboard is to expensive for you then go for 2600x with b450m-k and get your self good 3000 mhz ram and i reccomend you to buy something in range like gtx 1660 ti-rtx 2060.

Not going to lie I have no idea what a bios update is?
Also I’m currently looking at getting a Ryzen 3600 with 8gb ram then upgrading my gpu to GTX 1660 at a later date, will this be strong enough for AAA titles?
