Which DDR3 1600 ram should I get?

I'm building a gaming machine and am wondering about memory. All of the following are $55-$60 on newegg for 2x4gb.
From what i've read it seems that low CAS latency and low voltage are good. I'm wondering if there would be any noticeable performance, power consumption or heat difference between these sticks of ram? And which would you recommend?

NZXT Source 210 Elite w/ 3 120mm fans + 1 140mm
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
Core i5-2500k
Antec Earthwatts 750
Graphics card probably GTX 560 ti or Radeon 7850 and intend to SLI/xfire later

Stick with the 1.5V ram

As said above with a Sandy Bridge system you want to use 1.5v RAM. Sandy Bridge processors have the memory controller on the CPU itself and going over 1.5v voids the CPU warranty and can damage the chip. Also since the controller is on the chip there is really no benefit from going over DDR3 1600 cas 9. So your best bet is 1.5v GSkill or Corsair DDR3 1600 cas 9.

If you get Corsair get the low profile stuff if you plan on getting a large air cooler for your CPU as the normal Vengance stuff is too tall and can block the slot. GSkill Ripjaws X or Z will fit under a large cooler with no problems.

Don't bother with 1.65V, as the sweet spot is 1.5V.


I recommend CORSAIR Vengeance 99% of the time, quality RAM and low profile with XMP profile. And if u will get an aftermarket CPU cooler, low profile is the worry free remedy with perfect fit with any large cooler.
