Which FPS Mouse Should I Get?

I have only been PC gaming for about 9 months now, and for the majority of that time I have been using the Razer Naga Molten Edition mouse. The problem is (as you may have already guessed), the Razer Naga is not designed for FPS games, it is designed for MMO's. At the time of buying it I simply made the decision because I liked having the 12 side buttons, as it makes switching weapons and binding keys much easier when in a fast paced game. However, even to this day I have noticed that I find 'precision' aiming somewhat difficult, as the mouse is pretty small.

I'm looking for a mouse for FPS gaming, but one which also has a fair number of buttons. For BF3 I use buttons 1-5 on my Naga mouse, so if there's anything that can match that then that would be great. I have been looking at the Logitech G500, but I am still unsure.

Thanks

P.s. I am confined to a budget preferably no more than £55

The G series from Logitech is very good.

Also heard some good things come from SteelSeries with their mice.

I personally have a Logitech G9x and I love mine. I came from a old Deathadder from like 2009 and it is a world of difference. Now the deathadder has a higher DPI now than it did when I purchased mine. So the Deathadder now may be decent. I would suggest doing some more research. The Naga isn't very good unless playing MMO.

Corsair, SteelSeries, Razer, ROCAT,Logitech are all good brands, just do some more research!

I personally recommend either a Steelseries Kana or a Steelseries Ikari.

Kana v2 (Pro Edition) is a good all-around mouse (I own a Xai which is similar), whereas the Ikari is supposedly designed specifically for FPS. Both round 45£.

I have been using the MadCatz R.A.T 7 for nearly 2 years and if one day it broke, i wouldn't hesitate in buying another, its the best mouse i have ever used. Before i have a G Logitech mouse which was pretty good but i felt as though it was lacking in some way.

I have never tried a mamba but apparently it is one of the best.

Can I ask what you use the buttons for in BF3? I've always used a keyboard for anything other than aiming, shooting, and scroll wheel to change weapons in FPS games.... for your budget if you can skip the need for buttons on the mouse which I would have thought would make FPS more difficult to do then get the Deathadder, it's designed for FPS.

Oh and as silverliquicity says, the Mamba is also good, it's almost identical though to the deathadder, except wireless, and a couple more buttons near the left finger - oh and it's twice the price too.

On bf3 I use the side-buttons on my mouse to toggle gadgets automatically. It is much easier to simply press a side button to toggle defib, use it, and press the side-button again to return to my normal weapon (among other situations).

Lots of side-buttons is NOT good for FPS gaming, but one or two are incredibly helpful if you have a large set of equipment to be toggled.

Agreed!

I thought lots of side buttons were good but it's actually more confusing and you don't pay attention to the things you need to pay attention to.

I personally find 2 side buttons on my G9x to be perfect. ONLY thing I don't like about the g9x is that the scroll wheel is hard to press down without moving the mouse...

Personally I never had an issue with the side buttons on the Razer Naga, it was only the size and build design of the mouse which made it worse for FPS games. I used to use side button 1 for primary weapon, 2 for secondary, 3 for medic kit and 4 for equipment. I found switching between inventory items to be much faster than pressing the numbers on my keyboard, so for me the side buttons are fantastic, and they never put me off or distracted me from the game, I got completely used to the layout.
