Hey, my GPU broke and I got a refund so I am ordering a new GPU whic is different since my old GPU is out of stock. I need you guys to tell me which GPU is good for music production and recording gameplay on any game on high settings. I am getting my GPU on a site where my refund money is on but I dont want to give the site away because tom's hardware is their rivals.

Here are my specs:

AMD FX-6350
Powercolor Radeon HD 7950 (Old GPU)
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
Corsair Vengeance 8 GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866 memory
Western digital caviar blue 1TB 7200RPM Harddrive
Corsair CX500W

Here are the list of GPU's I consider on getting:

Gigabyte HD 7870 OC (£40 discount)(Price £150) (Actual Price £190)
EVGA GTX 660 (£12 discount) (Price £150) (Actual Price £162)
EXDISPLAY Sapphire HD 7870 GHZ OC Edition (£80 discount) (Price £130)(Actual price £220) (2 left in stock)

I am thinking of buying the 3rd one, but I don't know. I am not a hardware genius so please guys choose me one ^^

Solution
The HD 7950 is the best GPU for your price range. go hifher , and you get the HD 7970. Both comes with 3 free games.

The HD 7870 and GTX 660 have similar performance. their performance differs form different games. they both comes with 2 free games. the GTX 660 consumes less power too.

Get that. It's great. It's better than the 3 you have listed. You should also receive 3 free games

I heard it eats power, do I have to get a new PSU or something or am I safe and sound?
Should I get the lower version XFX HD 7950 DD 3GB GDDR5. It has 3 free games so I can trade with my friends and get League of Legends skins but the discount on the other one is £99.

The CX500 provides 38 amps on its 12v rail and its max wattage output is 500 watts.

"For a system using a single Radeon HD 7970 graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater power supply. The power supply should also have a combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 38 Amps or greater and have at least one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Total Continuous Amperage Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the moctost important far."

"For a system using a single AMD reference design Radeon HD 7950 graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply. The power supply should also have a maximum combined +12 Volt ontinuous current rating of 30 Amps or greater and have at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors. Some of the non-reference design cards require one 6-pin and one 8-pin or two 8-pin PCI-E power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor."

So the HD 7950 would be the best choice. But if you have a little more money, check out the GTX 770. It has similar performance to the HD 7970, but comes with AC Black Flag , Splinter Cell black List, and Batman Arkham Origins. But you might need a better PSU.

" For a system using a single GeForce GTX 770 graphics card NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 600 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 42 Amps or greater and that has at least one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most important factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) will require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

I think NVIDIA's requirement of a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 42 Amps is about 10 Amps more than is required for an ASUS GTX 770. It should be 32 Amps or greater for your card."

The FX-6350 shouldn't bottleneck the HD 7950. For the HD 7950 ,the Corsair CX500 should be fine.

do remember to pick the most helpful comment as the solution so that you can close the thread and thank the person who has helped you. Same applies to all other threads.
