GTX 970 all day long.

290X is a wee-tad better in performance but I would get the 970 because it uses a lot[ less power, and therefore you actually will save money by buying a lower-wattage power supply.

Power > 290X
Efficiency > 970

Also, don't think the 970 is weak. It's one of the most powerful cards.

Edit: Others say the 290X is actually less powerful, so take their suggestions into consideration also. Basically, they're generally the same.

Well the 970 has about 2% better performance on average so really a matter if you want to save some money.

Gotta go 970. It is the king of GPUs right now. Performance and value are insane. It is cheaper and worth the cost.
