Which graphic card

Umm im look at graphic card to get and i was wondering if i should a

Gtx 970 or R9 290

That depends on what you want to do and what resolution you want to do it at?

At resolutions up to 2560 x 1600, the 970 is the better gaming choice.

I agree, the 970 performs better, but the 290 can be had for about 75 bucks less than the 970, if price is a consideration.

Right now I look at it this way

MSI 970 + Witcher 3 = $330
MSI 290 + Witcher 3 = $330

I have the R9 290 from MSI its good but I did have to change thermal paste as the old paste dries fast.

The 970 is better but you get what you pay for.

pay more and get slightly better results

What you pay for any hardware component can vary, greatly, from week to week depending on the release of new hardware and demand for current hardware. A card that was 250.00 last week might be only 200.00 this week, so buying the most expensive component isn't always a good indicator that you're getting the most for your investment.
