I've done a little research and I've only been able to find so much. I know an OC'ed 780 is not far behind the stock 780 ti. But what about the other 780 versions? I'm not a fan of OC'ing and typically just keep the card stock out of the box. What are some of the top 780's out there?

Solution
well the sc evga 970 was only a few points behind a overclocked reference style 780ti. My card runs at 1200mhz core clock so realistically the only way a 970 would actually beat either of my 780ti's would be if it was under water and running around 1500mhz which im not sure if they can do that stable. I dunno i didnt really need to upgrade my 2500k either running it at 4.4ghz but this 6700k was just calling my name lol

I don't know. Maybe because you can get them for really good prices?

I was confused by that as well. I don't remember ever reading it wasn't.

I saw a list on all the directX 12 compatible cards. I don't remember the website. But there was a lot.

Well given that they are a shrink of the 600's and there was no DX12 at that point you wouldn't read that they weren't.

Microsoft DirectX support[edit]

NVIDIA Kepler GPUs of the GeForce 700 series fully support DirectX 11.0.

NVIDIA will partially support the DX12 API on all the DX11-class GPUs it has shipped; these belong to the Fermi, Kepler and Maxwell architectural families.[1]
Note partially.

Nvidia's site http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/technology/dx12/supported-gpus
Only the 710 is listed, not even the 750ti (i.e. Maxwell 1).

Specification for 750ti, DX 11.2 - http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-750-ti/specifications

Specification for 780ti, DX 11 - http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-780-ti/specifications

That's why I think this, It is possible that these have never been updated.

The reason you've not heard of it making a difference is that nothing uses it yet as DX12 has, as you know, only been out a short while.

So it looks like they are sloppy with their page updating, there are levels of support however, and without hardware features you may lose on performance.

I still stand by the question,
Where from? and how good is really good considering that:
If you are talking about 10% less than the price of a 970 for a 780, I wouldn't bite, I think it'd have to be better than 25% cheaper than a 970, before I'd consider a 780.
