Hello guys...

My 2 year old Samsung Internal hard disk has started showing some errors. Intel Rapid Storage shows that my disk may be at risk.

As of it has passed its warranty period I'm planning to buy a new one.
My motherboard is Intel DH55tc.

I'm in India. So my budget in INR is around < Rs. 4000.

I'm Looking for 1TB. Western Digital preferable.

The above things I'm clear. What confuses me is the rpm, SATA 3GB/s & SATA 6GB/s. If I go for higher rpm & 6GB/s SATA, will that be compatible with my mobo..?

And other than that, any other thing i should keep in mind..?

Solution
Your current MoBo is SATA II (3GB/s), but SATA III (6GB/s) is backwards compatible, so you'll not have any incompatiblity issues. Also, higher the RPM, faster the drive. Make sure you get 3.5" driver not 2.5", which's slow. There's no performance drop of SATA 2 over 3 in HDDs as they are simply not fast enough to utilize the extra bandwidth offered by 3. SATA III mainly helps SSDs. WD Blue or SeaGate Barracuda 1TB are all great drives :)
