Which HDD is better?

Solution
Yeah, the Black is the best one out of those 3, but is it worth 20 dollars over the Seagate? Not really unless the longer warranty is something you are worried about. You won't notice any difference in load times between the Seagate and WD Caviar Black.

WD Black is faster. And, as namdlo points out, you get a five year warranty. I've used at least half a dozen of them over the last couple of years (in RAID1 pairs), and other than one quickly-replaced DOA, have had no issues with any of them.

The new Seagate drives are actually quite fast. I think WDC may have a slightly better track record(but its just slightly).

The Red should only be used for secondary storage(they have slow access times and limited top speeds). While they are quiet, my 3TB red does have a deep sound(low rumble) to it. but it is much less distracting than high pitched sounds.

so its between the black and Seagate now..tehy have the same specs but the black is more pricey, FOR gaming and everything else, please pick one and tell me :) Just One word, the name 😛

Then go for it, but do keep an eye on the smart status from time to time.

All the top end hard drives have improved over older ones anyway. Hell I remember when a hard drive breaking 20 megabytes/second was "blazing fast". And that was later when people started to bench them. before that they just sold based on capacity.
