I'm about to buy an 1-bay NAS for my small home network and I would like to know what kind of HDD should I choose if I want to play 4k content through Plex server / player on my 65" Android TV. I'd like to play 2160p movies but I'm not sure if I should need special HDD for the optimal data-rate.

So which attributes of a 1-bay NAS HDD do matter regarding the 4k/UHD video streaming?
  • 5400 vs. 7200rpm
  • SMR vs. CMR/PMR
  • 64MB vs. 256MB cache
  • size
And what matters more? Like should I get a 5400rpm PMR drive or a 7200rpm SMR would be better for that purpose, regardless the chache? Or for another example, a 256MB cached 5400rmp HDD would be better than a 64MB 7200rpm HDD regardless of the recording method?

Tried hard but didn't find a precise answer so far.
Thank you in advance!
