Which is best?

Theoretical question for you:

I have a PC on which I play the odd game, surf the web and convert the odd
movie file but nothing heavy duty.

The PC spec is as follows:

Pentium 4 3.0GZ (533 FSB)
DFI Lanparty Pro 875 Mobo
1024 MB PC 3200 DDR Ram (SINGLE channel as not a matched pair of DIMMS)
running at 333 Mhz. Tried running them on Double Channel but had a very
unstable result

My question is, would my PC run better if I got 2 x 256MB MATCHED DDR Dimms
and run them as Dual Channel even though I've effectively halfed the amount
of RAM?

Also, should I expect much of a speed benefit of getting the 800FSB version
of the CPU (my mobo supports 800FSB but the current CPU is only the 533 FSB
one)

Thanks everyone in advance!

No. but 2x512 will be better.

Speed benefit for you would be next to nothing with what you have said you
use the computer for. Although I have come across people who use their
computer just to surf the web and check email and play one game - which
happens to be Far Cry...

Thanks for that...and would you know my one game DOES just happen to be Far
Cry....but I suffer from real frame rate loss and stuttering so wondered if
the memory/fsb thing might help.

My point was that it doesn't matter what else you do with your machine or
how many games you play, if you want to play the latest games your going to
need the latest hardware. You don't say what your gfx card is. I have a
XP2100+ on a 266FSB and 9800PRO and it plays far cry fine so I would say
your fsb/mem is fine. Your gfx card will be the bottleneck.
