which is better?

i have to choose between EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 4 GB
and
HIS Radeon R9 290X iPower IceQ X² Turbo 4 GB GDDR5
in my country both of them cost about the same price
please advise me which one is better

First one is vastly better in every possible way.

It was previously a 280X, now it's a ~tie.

The quality of the EVGA is better than HIS. At 1080p I'd rather the 970 cuz Nvidia has better drivers and usually has lower frametime than AMD. (I own an AMD GPU). Also, the 970 needs much less power. The 290x will beat the 970 in lots of games but I'd still rather the 970.

Both cards are very similar in performance, with one card better than the other depending on game being played.

R9 290X needs more power than the GTX 970 to run.

As performance overall is similar, and the GTX 970 requires less power to run, the GTX 970 is the preferred choice.
