I have a old pc with an acer motherboard (am2+), initially there was AMD athlon 64 x2 4400+ on board. I upgraded it to AMD phenom 9600B with a tower cooler (both from ebay). I put the pc in my summer cottage for just surfing and office work. During summer, pc was under sunning and got very hot. CPU temp was about 60 - 65 C. One day, when I turned on pc (win7), mouse (ps/2) stopped work and system complained mouse had resource conflict with keyboard (USB). After that pc refused to start, no POST, but all fans (cpu and case) was working normally. I tried to use both USB mouse/keyboard or both ps/2 mouse and keyboard. They didn't make a difference. Still no POST.

What is broken, CPU or motherboard? or PUS? Right now I don't have other spec pc which I can test the component.

Thanks for help.

A cpu is just about the last component that would die in a system. However since you said there were resource conflicts I wouldn't be too suprised if the motherboard died. You might just want to take the battery out of the board and see if a cmos reset fixes the issue.

I tried to take out battery with same results. No POST.
