Hi All,

So I recently upgraded my system and as part of that I bought a gigabyte g1 1070, over the last week i've had black screen at boot issues which I suspect is the graphics card (or sound card but not sure). Im sending it back so I can now get a new one and since more seem to be available now than when i initially purchased my card i was wondering what would people recommend ?. I was very happy with the g1's performance but obvs a bit scorned by the boot failures it was causing, I was leaning towards the asus strix as im a sucker for rgb.

I have just checked amazon and I can see what you mean, the G1 I bought first tho (1070) was £400, so it would be a £70 increase, is the performance boost really worth it ?, considering that Im already very happy with the 1070's performance (getting 80 fps max on pubg etc)

For me, it's worth it since:

1) You are replacing the £400 G1 1070 with a more expensive £430 Strix 1070 (adding £30) closer to the price range of the £477 G1 1080.

2) Assuming your monitor has a high refresh rate (say, 144Hz+), the GTX 1080 will allow you to play AAA games at higher graphics settings at higher frames per second.

3) You already have (or will be most likely upgrading to) a 1440p/~120Hz or 1080p/144Hz++ monitor.

But, it's not worth it, if:

1) You are content with the 80fps and graphics settings for specific games that you play (such as PUBG) and do not intend to play other GPU-intensive games at ultra eye-candy settings.

2) You only have a 1440p/60Hz or 1080p/~120Hz monitor.

3) The £47 additional expense (difference between the costs of a Strix 1070 and a G1 1080) is too much of a financial burden for you.

I only have 1080p 60hz monitors, I wont be upgrading monitors for a long time as I have only just got them (pair of 24inch led curved samsung monitors). The GTX 1080 has also increased up to £500 now, £100 more than my G1 and £70 more than than the strix, it also lacks the rgb lighting I desire, not very important when it comes to performance I know but is still important to me !. I will have to see whats available for at the time i receive my refund as the gpu market atm is so volatile.
