I have three laptops here and I'm not sure which one to go with.

The MSI has slightly better CPU and 2 more gigs of RAM compared to the Toshiba.

The Toshiba had a much better graphics card than all the other but a slightly weaker CPU and less RAM.

The HP laptop is similar to the MSI but has a better graphics card (I think).

Which one do I get? Price comparison between the two does not matter at all.

Don't buy any ANY old intel CPU for laptops.

Haswell offers 50% more battery life .

so look at 4xxx naming , not 3xxx naming.

start looking again , look for 4th Generation intel CPU.

ewww all your laptops are 1366 x 768 you got evade that shit buddy.

I dont know about you but its 2013, and let me tell you something in 1366 x 768 if you opened a winamp lite (music player) window that will take a 1/4 of your screen, no bullshit.

i have laptop with that gay resolution and sold it recently to co-worker, you have to drop that shit, mobile phones are coming with 1080*1900 resolutions, so consider buying a phablet if you want.

Secondly, are the intel Laptop i3 i5 and i7 are 90% dual core parts, so you just paying for marketing and and an extra turbo frequency

since your budget is ~600, here are the alternatives :

HP, or more the new HP, previously HP models were plagued with faulty battery, and bad screens but they did restructuring and solved things pretty nicely

The above is also cheaper thanks to AMD cores, the benefit is 17.3 screen and nice 1600 x 900 resolution

MY huge point is, if you have not purchased a laptop before or experienced with 1366 x 768, TRUST me you will be disappointing, i wouldve traded my higher CPU performance for bigger screen and resolution in a giffy if some one previously told me so.

AMD notebooks are GARBAGE if compared to Intel today , and the new Haswell onboard graphics outperforms AMD APU in notebooks. they are comparable to Nvidia GT 640M ..

it is better fr him to wait for a Haswell notebook.

if he CANT wait, then he can get a Notebook with 740M graphics AND Intel cpu for 630$ AND a 1600x900 LCD as well , with optional FHD.
