HP Pavilion 15-p001tx Notebook Pc or
HP Pavilion 14-n201tx Notebook PC

The above mentioned has
Intel® Core™ i5-4210U, 4gb ram, 1tb harddisk, nvidia GeForce gt 830m 2gb graphic card. And the other laptop has intel i5 4200u, 4gb ram, 1 tb harddisk, nvidia GeForce 740m 2gb graphic card.

They are priced same in my area so just want to which is better.
Did these laptops can play game like gta iv, battlefield series?
Suggest any other laptop with better specification in the same price range if any.
Thanks in advance.

I would never recommend an HP laptop to someone. If you want to get a gaming laptop, go with ASUS or MSI. Toshiba actually makes a badass gaming laptop under the model name Qosmio. Those things are pretty kickass.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Notebook-Laptop-Reviews-and-News.48.0.html is a good place to see the performance of laptops and thier parts.

Specifically the 830m "According to Nvidia, the GeForce 830M is about 25 percent faster than the old GT 730M, which indicates a performance somewhere between the GeForce GT 740M and GT 745M. Many games of 2013/2014 should run fluently in WXGA resolution (1366 x 768) and medium detail settings. However, very demanding games such as Crysis 3 or Battlefield 4 will require even lower resolutions and/or details."

To play current titles NO neither laptop will work / work well. You will have crappy graphics, low performance, and be unable to play as well as others would. I would bypass BOTH laptops.

If your looking for gaming portably, you have to spend 2x that of the desktop, which puts you around $2000 in order to play current titles.

What about this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231630&cm_re=Asus_G750JM-_-34-231-630-_-Product

? It doesn't cost $2000 and it gives you the performance you need for gaming. The HP zbook and elitebook are good I've heard, and the warranty for these models are 3 years. They last much longer quality-wise than the G750 but they don't come cheap. I don't know if I would trust an MSI laptop or motherboard. I've had plenty of bad experience with MSI products. If they release a trustworthy industrial report where they state that they have addressed their issues I might reconsider buying MSI hardware. Until then, NO!!!

The reason that isn't $2000 is because it has a GTX 860M. While this WAS a good GPU for 2013 and older titles, you can only play MEDIUM settings on 2014 titles (WatchDogs, Wolfenstein, etc.) http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-860M.107794.0.html. If it was a 870M or 880M the price would be closer to the $2K mark (then include taxes and such.. yeah $2K when done) I suggested. Nice deal just very upset the 2014 titles are all demanding only TOP END GPUs and CPU combos now.

http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/y-series/y50/ I think this is the best deal for a new "gaming" laptop right now.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834233026R Its open box, but it is still new and its a pretty slick deal. But the 860m is superior in power consumption and heat. And it trades blows with the 770m. But it has a SSD, that is a big plus, IMHO.

Check tigerdirect, newegg, and amazin for openbox deals, overstock deals, new arrivals, etc...

Yes as long as OP is willing to say for 2014 and future titles he isn't going to try playing them any higher then Med graphics most likely LOW graphics.

Personally, considering what was revealed at CES and E3, spending $1200 so you can play Low/Med graphics for NEW titles seems like WASTE of money. Simply because a NexGen Console (PS4 seems the better choice) can run all the new titles at 1080p @ 60FPS, as well as a PC (SUPRISED!) and alot of other titles as well. So for half the money the OP *COULD* get the best graphics, never worry about 'can this play on my Console' and would save money in process. Otherwise OP needs to get more money especially for PORTABLE gaming

You are very mistaken... PS4 watchdogs 900p, XBOX One watchdogs 720p. CONSOLES DO NOT SUPPORT THE BEST GRAPHICS... AT ALL. Not (SURPRISED!) at all, lol... :D

http://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/PS4_vs._Xbox_One_Native_Resolutions_and_Framerates
INCORRECT, depends on the game, as this list provides and...
http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/wolfenstein-dev-ps4-and-xbox-one-are-closer-than-ps3-and-xbox-360-ever-were-1249521
and...
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/report-assassin-s-creed-unity-targeting-1080p-60fps-on-ps4-and-xbox-one/1100-6420580/

So there is many games it exceeds at, and some they just didn't push it right. Depends on the programmers and how hard they wish to actually 'invest' into the Nexgen.
